Natural Light Portrait Shoot

On the 19th July, eight of Farnborough Photography Club’s members attended a Natural Light Portrait event to shoot 4 models .

The event began with a short discussion on camera gear and settings and went on to discuss model positioning and direction, light management in the environment and the use of simple light diffusers and reflectors.

As well as taking photographs indoors we also ventured outdoors which enabled us to learn how to manage harsh direct sunlight and to seek opportunities for some natural soft lighting as the Sun drifted behind clouds.

We broke into groups to allow almost continuous shooting sessions through out the event period, where some members drifted into a more creative use of reflection. The session pushed some members out of their usually sphere of photography and gave others a chance to carry out what they so enjoy, but don’t always get a chance to conduct.

Refreshments were continually available and when Chris brought a Victoria Sponge cake along for all of us to share it made for a very enjoyable addition to the event….yummy.
