Welcome Back September 2026

Thursday 3^rd September saw the first meeting of the new season. As usual this was a very informal night, with a simple ‘hands in the air’ selection of the members favourite image that scored 10 from a judge in the club competitions from last season. There was a tie with Wendy Collens and Hortensja Malek both getting 4 votes. Another two images got three votes, and the rest of the votes were spread out amongst the remaining images. Such voting is an indication that there is a considerable variation in preferences in style of picture amongst the members.

This will be the last year of the 10s competition, because this season we are moving to the 1^st/2^nd/3^rd with ‘Highly Commended’ and ‘Commended’ method of marking. So we will need to find a new name for the season opening night next year.

During the evening there was time to socialise with a hot drink from the kitchen whilst chatting.

It was nice to see a few fresh faces at the club, together with all the regular faces from last season. This was of course the first meeting in our new location in the church hall. The move has been well received, with the hall being spacious and well supplied with tables and chairs. It was noted that it was ‘a bit echoey’ but that will be overcome, either by using our small speaker system, or by shouting. We will probably need to put out a few more chairs next week.

I’d just like to point out that in this picture the members were not in the process of marking the screen calibration image. They were listening to Lesley who is standing just to the left of view.
